Here is Tyler Blue's review that he previously posted on the ALOMusic Yahoo Group:
Hi everybody,
Oh man....tonight was one of the most love-filled events in Santa Barbara history. Jacob Tell and the Solutions for Dreamers team put on a very classy event to benefit Heal the Ocean in the most magical of ways.
This is worthy some time and it's late, so I'll be brief.
Culver City Dub Allstars were excellent at times. Jazzy dub and afro grooves.
Matthew McAvene and his band took a big leap presenting themselves so beautifully on the big stage.
The decorations floating through the stage airspace were over the top.
ALO
Pobrecito
BBQ (sweet, fast intro)
Try
Possibly Drown
Brighter w/McAvene!
Shapeshifter (Spinetingling!)
Haji
Walls
You make me feel like Dancing (sick Zach solo)
Plastic Bubble w/ Money Mark throwing down on keys
Maria
*w/Jack* (unsure of titles)
What's Gone Wrong>
Girl
You Should Know
IV Song (probably best version ever with Adam Topol laying it down on percussion, Money Mark etc...)
ALO reeled in so many new fans tonight. They played as explosive a set as they could without overwhelming the newbies. I loved IV Song being the huge closer. (I still can't get comfortable calling it "Wasting Time")
I saw Michael Franti and Spearhead in L.A. on Thursday and it was good but nothing spectacular.
It was absolutely phenomenal to see how hard he threw down tonight. It was the ultimate raising of the bar.
Michael and his band catalyzed the spirit of the whole event with one of the most primal sets of blissful music imaginable. I can't say enough about it.
I guess it's important to mention that Jack sat in with him for three songs including "Stir it Up" and a Sublime song during which he called a fan out of the crowd to come sing a verse. The energy was threw the roof.
I overheard Jack say after the show, "I had goosebumps."
Last but not least, many of our fellow phreaks capped off the night by dancing onstage in outrageous costumes with Franti and Co. during their final encore, "Everybody Ona Move." It was one for the ages...
Fortunately the music will speak for itself as it always does. I recorded the whole thing and will get it to you as soon as possible. Ian Stone's copy of ALO will probably pop up on etree sooner.
I'm listening to it now and I'm happy.
Sleep calls,
Tyler Blue
