Let's get this board going!!!

My name is Ashley and I'm from Indiana. Caught ALO for the first time at SummerCamp in IL this past summer. I was working a booth so I didn't get to really see them, could just hear it in the distance.

I just saw them again for the second time on Jam Cruise a few weeks ago and LOVED it!!

Here's a shot I took of the boys' day set on the pool deck of ze boat:

Been downloading some shows and can't get enough...Here's to bringing some Cali love back to the midwest!:D

Hey forum members!
I'm AJ up in Edmonton, Canada..Let's see, I first (and only) caught ALO back in summer of '05..opening for Jack's IBD tour over in Burnaby B.C. It was a good set, where I was introduced to them of course, as well as Matt Costa for the first time.

Looking forward to the upcoming album! hopefully it's not too long of a wait;)

Hi, I'm +Irie Pete and I live in Santa Barbara. I lived in Isla Vista when I went to UCSB from '82-'88, a bit before the guys in the band were there. I saw my first ALO show in 2002 I think. I'm one the band's archivists, along with Tyler Blue, and I enjoy mixing down the tasty matrixs and uploading them to the LMA for everyone to enjoy

Hey my name is Emma. I live in San Diego. I saw ALO for the first time in San Diego at the Belly Up in June of '06. Loved them. Then saw them in September again in SD. I got to see them at The Soho on the 29th of Dec '06 and then again at the Sea of Dreams on the 31st of that same month. Hopefully they come back down and :D

Artemis

Hi Pete and Emma! Does anyone know if the band is going to be on the festival circuit this summer? I sure would love to catch them again some time soon!

Yes, they will be touring festivals this summer, and will be supporting their new album due out on Brushfire Records in April. Wakarusa is for sure http://www.wakarusa.com/2007/lineup.asp?a=200, and you can count on them to play High Sierra as well http://www.highsierramusic.com/. Bonnaroo? Not sure, but they are overdue there. No doubt that Jenna will work her magic and have them playin' everywhere they need to be. She rocks!

Nice! Wakarusa, 10K Lakes and High Sierra are three big ones that I've never hit. I'd love to see ALO come back to Summer Camp in IL!! Bonnaroo would be great, too. My fiance and I are considering trying to make it out to High Sierra but we've got a lot going on this summer. :p

Hi my name is Kilo

I live in ISLA VISTA!

I have been seeing ALO since 1996 although at that time they were known as D'Jango and then after that Magnum Family.

I am the resident Dr. of the S.R.I, meaning I live a stones throw from the house that animal lib was created at, oh and a bunch of their old school tunes as well.

Can't wait for the Arlington show on Feb 24th with M. Frianti

I will now have seen PHISH, SCI, & ALO at the Arlington
Which for those of you who don't know... It's an old school movie theatre in Santa Barbara... Complete with fake city terraces on the sides of the stages and fake stars in proper constellations inset in a large dark blue domed roof!

YEAH!

Rock on Ya'll! This band will get under your skin!

Hello from IOWA - yeeeep that's right I-O-W-A, but I am centrally located for wakarusa!! I'll be seeing them there for the first time, but I heard there making a new album for april!?! maybe?!?! anyway - I'm all about getting live shows - I'll search around but any pointers would be great - or if anyone has older CD's - I have time expander and fly between falls, but am looking for ALO vs. LAG or One size fits all -

Anyone been to wakarusa before??

lol, looks like it! never been to wakarusa but i'm stoked to see ALO has been added to the summer camp lineup again this year. i definitely recommend summer camp to anyone who's never been...umphrey's mcgee and moe. headline every year and it's about as midwest as you can get!! it's a great festival and the perfect size...not too big but not too small. hope to see some of you there!:)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to wakarusa - but I want to make sure it'll be a good show before I drop 140 for the weekend - I know they have one day passes but maybe my money would be better spent on a headlining show or an opener for jack with great tickets - I have a bachelor party for the summer camp but that looked fun too - ever met anyone in ALO????

Hey

I have been to one ALO show, in 2005 in northern VA. But I have seen 3/4ths of the band playing together since 1991 in Wildwood park in Saratoga CA. You knew something good was going to happen, and it's happening now.

Keep it up boys, and try to make it back to the DC area when you get a minute...

Hey everyone, my name's Edwin and I live in Vermont. I stumbled across ALO about a year and a half ago while searching out more Jack Johnson tunes. I heard Girl I Wanna Lay You Down on the G.Love, Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter EP and they planted their seed. Snagged up a copy of Fly Between Falls and fell in love. These guys know how to write/play. Love the grooves! Can't wait to see them live for the first time in May when they come to the Higher Ground in South Burlington! YAAAAY!

My name is Dan, I live in the Sacto area of NoCal. I'm originally from Massachusetts. I first got into ALO after watching Jack Johnson DVD Live @ the Greek theatre. They are now my favorite band. My first show was Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz in spring 2006. They opened with 3 songs I hadn't heard before Possibly Drown, Plastic Bubble & Country Camper & others like Red Headed School Girl & Chilly, Chilly. It was official ALO had FUNKed my soul, I was hooked! Next was the Fillmore show with Jack Johnson & Brett Dennen. The show was so good it was RUDE! Love festivals (Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes in 2002 were fun). Some of my favorite bands to go see are ALO, Ratdog, Pearl Jam, Dave Mathews Band, Trey Anastasio Band, Derek Trucks Band, Allman Brothers. Jack Johnson didn't make list because I've only seen him sittin-in with ALO (Crime against my musical soul). ALO at the Bridge School Benefit would be a Solution to one of my Dreams.

See you all @ the Fillmore!

Hey! Not seen that many people from the UK on here (or maybe that's just me skimming through quickly and missing them all!). I first heard of ALO as was going to a Jack Johnson concert with a couple of mates, saw there was a couple of support acts and with them thinking they knew Jack better than me, I had to get the upper hand again. Found the site for ALO and Matt Costa, heard a couple of tracks and ordered the cd's straight off.
Since first playing them in my car, I've got quite a few people hooked onto them and is quite often what I put on when going diving (though do try to skip Possibly Drown for obvious reasons!:D )

Can't wait to get my hands on the new cd. There's no way I can wait for it to be released here so will be keeping a close eye on the site.

All the best peeps, take it easy

Hello everyone,

My name is Jon, but boarders call me rabbit...I totally LOVE ALO music!!!
I have seen them 3 times live and each time it gets better and better. The first time I checked them out was on the live webcast of Vegoose and have been preaching the love ever since. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that you will probably be seeing me around quite a bit.

ALO is the best thing that has happened in my life in quite sometime...and I just can't seem to get enough of their music.

I am anxious to get involved with this community and meet many more fans that are as rabid about these guys as I am

yea living in the midwest we are experiencing crazy weather this year...it actually snowed in April....Kansas is known for it awesome spring and hard summers...this year...we are getting weather that no one in the area has ever seen before...it is about 45 degrees out and the trees and plant life are not sure what to do...

it actually is a bad thing for our eco system out here...the bugs that we need to balance out the other ones are not getting a chance to live...spiders are dying and will not be able cathcn the mosquitoes and that in turn can bring more disease...the other side of that is that they are expecting us to get 100 degree weather next week...we pissed Mom Nature off and she is letting us know that she is.

Have you noticed anything on your side over there??

mattgreen87
04-26-2007, 08:20 PM
Wow thats sounds like your experiencing quite a drastic climate change. Over the last few years we've been getting hotter and hotter summers last year was mad it was something like 30+ degrees in early June, some days it was nearly 40 and i think this year is ment to be even hotter. it may be great for going down to the beach to surf but it can't be good for the planet in the long run.

we should definitely make it our mission to get this forum going, and spread the word of ALO. I've got a few of my friends into ALO now everyone seems to love them, Have you introduced ALO to anyone yet?

we sang "do you like my sack"

LOL

as well as i have turned on some people to ALO that live in Modesto...which is very close to SF.

i have also converted one of my room mates...

Philly here, my name is Andrew. Was turned onto them a few years ago by a friend from Cali. Saw them for the first time as the opening band for Galactic, and now cant wait for them to be a solo headliner. They have the tunes and the ability and from what I saw in Philly and B'more they definitely have an exploding fan base to do it soon. I know Brett Dennen brought some of them in the door but ALO stole the show and everyone left a fan.

My name is Meg, I am 45 with 3 kids (so am I the oldest fan here??). Hey, it's not your years, it's your attitude!! I got to know ALO because I am a big Jack Johnson fan. I live in Delaware, saw ALO last summer (2006) at World Cafe Live, there were less than 200 people there, they were awesome! Also went to the Kokua Festival in April 2006, had 4th row seats, but one of the kids fell asleep in the car, we were a little late, ALO was on first, so I listened to them from the will-call line. That was extremely frustrating, as hardly anyone was in their seats yet.

Couldn't go to see them at TLA in May, but am looking forward to Camden on July 22. Need to find out when they come on so I don't miss them again!!

I don't spend a lot of time on forums, but am always glad to help promote ALO!

It is good to see that you have joined our very small, but growing family. For some reason this Forum is still just kind of lurking on the outside of the ALO world...guess there is a big one on Yahoo Groups...but my heart belongs here.

As for oldest person on the board...I can't say...but i am up there with you!!! I think ALO reaches everyone of all ages. Again, welcome, and make sure you get a set list and some pictures from the 22nd. And don't forget to post them here so we can all enjoy.

Hey everyone. I'm an ALO lover from San Diego. I saw them for the first time in June (I think) of 2006 at The Belly Up (the best local music spot) My boyfriend had seen them at Vegoose the year before. We traveled up to Santa Barbara to see them in December of 2006 and then at The Sea of Dreams in San Fransisco. The Soho show on December 29th was the best show so far. I was afraid they wouldn't stop by southern Cali again this year but now I get to see them three nights in a row!!!! August 15, 16, and 17 are gonna be an awesome birthday present!

You can tell the band has been together for a long time.....cause they sound tight and funky. I think it's cool that everyone in the band sings, too! Zach has a great mind for music and is a helluva entertainer. They are ALL great musicians.......and I can't wait to see em, AGAIN! Come back soon!

Also, I got to see G. Love last night. Free show! I've seen him before at Memphis in May. Good shows! I totally dig the upright bass playa's skillz. Fuuuunnnnkay.....

greetings alovers!

my name is jay. i've been lurking around this forum for a few months, waiting for the kinks to get ironed out.

i am 30+ and extremely good looking, so good looking it's somewhat ridiculous. my singles ad (if i weren't getting married in 7 weeks) would read as follows: "a galactose intolerant visual elitist lysdexic photographizer who likes walking movies and long watches on the beach." ok, so perhaps my sense of humor outweighs my looks, but this is the internet, baby, illusion is easy!

alo is and has been a big part of my life for some time now. i first heard them in high school but the first time i heard them was in 1999 in isla vista. i was skateboarding to my friend glazer's house (6571 DP) and heard this music coming from the IVBC, which used to be the anaconda (see 4.29.92). i kicked my board up and crossed from woodstock's to the venue and soon was reintroduced to jenna and the boys. i had my friend's DAT deck in my backpack and immediately offered to tape the show. luckily for us all, they had an amazing sound engineer from sheffield labs and we got an amazing board from the night. after a night of cutting some serious rug, with lighting bolts coming from my fingers, i was hooked. since then, life has been that much brighter, that much more meaningful and the band couldn't get rid of me if they tried! this band and jenna have truly brought love and light into my world and we can only pray they have the same effect on the rest of the world as their message spreads.

one common thread we all share is the simple fact that the music moves us. how it moves me, why i can't get enough of them, these reasons change nearly every time i listen to them and i can't really put my finger as to how or why this happens in one quick post. perhaps after spending some time around here that message will write itself.

i am currently living in spain with my fiancee jessica and our boxer boy, miles jasper. we live in a small fishing village north of barcelona and i enjoy making art, love, and i work via this box filled with 1's and 0's doing internet stuff- web design, google, etc. when i'm not being cheesy in a forum or freaking out over xml sitemaps and google placement, i attempt to create as much as i can.

with that said, i feel my time here in spain is one long bizarre experiment. living in a spanish bubble, a bubble in a spanish world. the experiment is this: it has been over a year since i've seen the boys play, nearly a year since i've seen a decent concert- and after a few hundred phish, cheese, dead and alo shows, this experiment is getting rather interesting. to quote the famous sean marnane, after a year without live music, my name has been changed to "lionel twitchie."

thankfully, the experiment will conclude the week before our wedding as alo is playing amsterdam september 23rd, in my favorite theatre in the whole wide world. so i guess the moral of the story is, sometimes we all get lucky and our prayers are answered.

i look forward to contributing to this group and bringing as much as i can to the table in an effort to share the joy of this music with as many people as possible, with no ego and zero possessiveness of what has been, always looking onward and upward.

this intro got a bit scattered.... what better way to introduce myself than by running in the room, tacking my balls to the wall and splattering a bunch of thoughts out on the table with no fear or shame- i guess that's a good description of my approach to life. welcome to my world and i hope to be welcomed here to boot.

Hey everyone,

I'm Caroline, 22 and from the Netherlands.

Not sure when i first heard ALO, guessing it was about 3 or 4 years ago and i've been hooked ever since! Saw them open for Jack in New York and Amsterdam and saw them headlining again in Amsterdam last year. (Great show, albeit without Zach, which kinda even made it more special, the crowd was priceless, most people where rather bummed at first that Zach wasn't there, but were knocked off their socks 10 minutes into the gig:))

Can't wait to see them again!

Jay, Caroline, and Dauns...WELCOME.

The one thing that you will find about this forum is that we are from all over the place....

definately when they guys are near let them know that you are on this Forum...i have talked to them a few times and let them know that we have a great international forum community...but alas it seems that the bulk of the fans still yahoo group it....

that is a good forum...but this one seems to rock out just a bit more.

ok...well welcome one and all. can't wait till one day we can all get liberated together!!!!

already tons of europeans here. wow! usually i am one of the few that get into this kind of music, or rather have heard of it in the first place.

my name is felix, i am from germany but i lived in the US for a while, which is where i got into jam music. i saw ALO on jamcruise, summercamp and wakarusa this year. great gigs everytime. i am really excited to see that they will be playing in amsterdam this fall! well worth the trip for sure. add some more dates over here in europe!

ps: if all goes well i will be attending UCSB starting next fall. to the roots of ALO so to speak. hopefully i will get accepted.

My name is Matt and I have to give some Chi-Town love. My buddy Urbs introduced my wife and I to ALO just a few months ago. Wow - they haven't left our disc/ipod players for weeks. I am super stoked to see them at the Double Door in Chicago in October.

I have been a veteran in the jam scene for years and years and haven't found many bands too appealing for a while now. Then steps in Roses & Clover. Followed by FBF. I have to say I am super impressed and can't wait to spread the word to hundreds of music fans I know about ALO.

Can October 17th come any sooner?

Hi All,

My name is Rosanne (sanne for short). i live in the Netherlands and have been on the old forum as well (not too often though:p)
I first saw ALO opening for Jack Johnson in the HMH in Amsterdam and was hooked. Bought Fly between Falls and played it ad infinitum. It makes me happy, relaxed and makes me feel positive.
Saw them next in Amsterdam Melkweg being five months pregnant. And now i am preparing myself for the next Amsterdam gig in Paradiso.:D as a new mum. Our daughter Sam is a perfect representative of the ALO family, loads of smiles, easy going and loves to move to the music.
Looking forward to meeting you there.

Hi im from Argentina, a country in the bottom of South America. I just got my Roses & Clover CD from an uncle who came from USA this week.

I have a question. Why is the name animal liberation orchestra. what that it means?

Thanks a lot for the music, thanks a lot for the lyrics, and thanks a lot for the smiles.

God bless
