This weekend was one of the best in years!

First I got to see ALO in London on Friday at Bush Hall, which is a great venue. It looks like an ordinary house from the outside, but inside it was rather spectaculair. Red carpet, chandeliers and a beautifully ornamented ceiling left me feeling like i should've been wearing my ball gown.

It was a nice suprise when i was told they would be playing two sets, cause that usually doesn't happen on this side of the pond. Both sets where great. I don't think the place was sold out (it fitted about 400-500 people) and what the people lacked in dancing, they made up for with their enthusiasm. ALO still isn't that well known in England, so most of the songs where FBF and RaC songs, but the crowd loved My Pecs and Purple Rain.

There should be a great video of Purple Rain up in a few days. Also, i met a girl who wrote for an online music mag (Front centre, or front row centre) and she'll be posting up pictures, setlist, a review and an interview with Steve. I'll post the links as soon as i get them.

That morning i hopped on the bus back home, had some sleep, and got ready for the Amsterdam gig.

As Jay said, the Paradiso is a great venue and the fact that it's an old church makes it even better. I'd only see the downstairs hall, but the upstairs hall is just as good. The gig was sold out (about 300 people), so the place was packed and really, really hot so the break between sets was really nice.

Highlights of the show where a great version of Time is of the Essence, Blondie's Heart of Glass, the LED light gift from the band to Jessica and Jay (congratulations!), and especially all the Americans who did a great job making the Dutch people dance (Dutch people aren't used to dance, we nod our heads to the beat:D). It was great meeting some of you and i can't wait till next time.

Also, i had to leave just before the encore as i had to work in the morning and the first train back home wasn't early enough, but they started with Plastic Bubble (one of my favs) and said they were gonna play a brand new song. So, if anyone know what it's like..let me know!

Hi all,

I can only second Carolines review on the Amsterdam gig. It was hot, steamy, and swinging! Loved the non-alo songs/ riffs/rythms creeping in: black bird, blondie, and did i hear The pink pather tune?
The guys were on topform and so were the newly wonover Dutchies.
Next time maybe a bigger venue (not too big though!).
It was great to meet some other fans....
0.a.Jessica and Jay, hope you have a great weddingday and many many happy years together.

Still smiling:D (or should i say grinning?)

The show in Amsterdam was great yesterday, extremely hot though. I left at 12 o' clock, after Shapeshifter was played, because my dad wanted to leave. Was that the last song? I hope it didn't miss anything. Anyway, great show. I'll come again when you guys come to Holland again.

It might come on fabchannel.com. They host several shows in Paradiso and De Melkweg. I sure hope it will.

It was a damn good concert, actually the best of theirs that I have seen. Two sets, going till after midnight, you cant beat that. I was fortunate to be in Amsterdam for my vacation, and it just happened to fall on the same weekend. I couldn't believe that it happened that way, my luck nevers works out in my favor:D. The Paradiso was a great place to see them, it was so personal and there was easily less than 200 people there (small room of the concert venu).

I made a few videos from the concert, I was up in the front on the left side of the stage. Empty Vessel, Try, Maria & Walls of Jerico. The sound really isn't the best as it is just a crappy digital camera, but it sounds pretty good and for my first real video attempt at a concert...not too bad if I say so myself.

Check them out and post up some comments.

I would really like to see if the band checks them out, some comments or a personal email from them would kick major ass. Great show, love the music, can't wait for a new album.

Thanks man. Nice to see it again. I was just as close as you to the band, but on the other side, close to Zack Gill.
